How to activate data to Magnite DV+

You can activate your first-party data from InfoSum to Magnite DV+.
To activate your first-party data from InfoSum via Magnite DV+, Magnite has provided InfoSum with an S3 bucket that serves as your activation destination. You can use this to directly send the file with your activation segment and make it available in DV+. Let’s see how.
Set up Magnite DV+ as your activation platform
Contact your Magnite Account Manager to inform Magnite that you plan to use your InfoSum segment for activation. Magnite will share credentials and file path requirements to use in the InfoSum UI. Please share activation requirements with Magnite once they are confirmed with your advertising partner and Magnite will confirm the next steps.
Validate the data ingestion process with Magnite
Contact your Magnite Account Manager to validate the ingestion process and the suitability of the export type.
Data activation in InfoSum
Create an activation Bunker
To export your audience segment out of InfoSum you’ll need to have an activation Bunker.
If you don’t have one yet, you’ll need to set this up first. See creating a dataset for details.
When you are setting up your activation Bunker, please make sure that you select a PPID (Publisher Provided ID) as an output column. This is the only ID that Magnite can currently ingest and recognise.
There are two options for activation:
- Option one: the media owner builds the audience segment and uses its activation Bunker, or
- Option two: The media owner gives permissions to a brand to build a segment and use its activation Bunker.
Option one: the media owner builds the activation segment
Step 1. Create your activation segment
Using the Segment Builder

Once the segment is created, select New Activation from the menu on the top right corner. Choose the dataset you want to use for activation and select the PPID output column you want to export. Then click on Submit to create the activation.
Using the query tool
For more information on how activation queries work, see activation query.
To write an activation query go to the Console Tab of Query Tool. Select Activation and write your activation query. Define the Campaign ID and click on Create Campaign.
Step 2: connect your Magnite S3 to your Activation Bunker
Go to the Activation tab under Activate and select the campaign you created for the data activation. At the bottom of the page, you will see a box containing three menu tabs - Details, Export Configuration and Export History. Switch to Export Configuration and use the slider to enable the connector “Amazon S3 with access key”.
Fill out the form using the S3 credentials and the destination details received from Magnite.
Please be attentive to Destination Filename. The destination filename must be in the following format:
ClientName_clientID_mmddyyyy.csv
Where:
- clientID is the segment identifier. This is an arbitrary identifier that is decided by the brand/media owner relationship. This is required by Magnite DV+ to let them create the matching between the list of IDs contained in the InfoSum export and the relative audience inside DV+. Contact your Magnite Account manager if you have any doubt about which clientID should be used here.
- mmddyyyy is the day when the file has been pushed.
Your Destination Filename could look similar to:
Advertiser_Cohort123_04202022.csv
Click on the Save button and then the Activate button to push the data to the selected destination.
Option two: the client gives permission to a partner to use its Activation Bunker
If you want to allow another partner to reference your dataset and to use your Activation Bunker for activating data, you need to create an Activation permission. When you create permissions, you define how another party can use your dataset. Click here to learn how InfoSum Permissions work.
Step 1. Create an activation permission
First of all, you need to create an activation permission for your Activation Bunker that allows your partner to reference your dataset. Click here to learn how to create an activation permission.
Step 2. Share the activation dataset name with the partner
The partner will need to know the name of the activation dataset. This will be required if they build a segment to activate or if they run an activation query.
Step 3. Share the cloud storage credentials with the partner
Please follow your organization's process to share information with a third party.
Step 4. The partner creates the activation segment and pushes it to the S3 bucket
As described in option one above.
Verify that DV+ is ingesting data correctly
The Magnite DV+ system checks for new files in the S3 every 24 hours. If a new file is found, it’s ingested for processing. To confirm the status of a file ingest, please check with your Magnite account team.
