How to activate data to Treasure Data
You can activate your first-party data from InfoSum to Treasure Data.
To activate your first-party data from InfoSum to Treasure Data you need to use one of their Cloud Storage and File Storage integrations. You can choose to use one of the following cloud storage or file storage: Amazon S3 bucket, Google Cloud Storage bucket or SFTP server. You can then directly send the file with your activation segment to the desired S3/GCS bucket or SFTP server to make it available in Treasure Data. Let’s see how.
Before you begin
Set up your cloud location according to Treasure Data’s prerequisites
To extract an activation segment from InfoSum to activate through Treasure Data you need to set up the S3/GCS bucket or SFTP server where the file will be pushed to. You can choose the preferred location based on the technology you are using or have at your disposal. Then you need to set up the connection and verify its prerequisites in Treasure Data. You can find more information using the following links, depending on the import connector you selected:
Data activation in InfoSum
Create an activation Bunker
To export your audience segment out of InfoSum you’ll need to have an activation Bunker.
If you don’t have one yet, you’ll need to set this up first. See creating a dataset for details.
When you are setting up your activation Bunker, please make sure that you select, as output columns, one of the keys that Treasure Data can currently ingest. Treasure Data can accept most of the IDs available plus other attributes that can be defined as keys. If you have any doubts, please contact the Treasure Data support team.
Create an activation in InfoSum
There are two options for activation:
- You build the audience segment and use your activation Bunker, or
- You give permission to a partner to build a segment and use your activation Bunker
Option one: you build the activation segment and use your activation Bunker
Step 1: Create your activation segment
Using the Segment Builder
For more information on how to create a segment, see using Segment Builder.
Once the segment is created, select the New Activation button on the top right corner. Choose the dataset you want to use for activation, the output column you want to export and add a Campaign ID to identify your campaign.
You can add a maximum of 5 columns of string values to your output data that can be used as attributes in the Treasure Data Customer Data Platform (CDP). This will help you, for example, to associate useful information such as the segment name to visitor IDs. To do this, select the Add a column of string values to your output data option. Add a column by writing the Column Name and the Column Value that you want to have available to you in the CDP. Select the preferred delimiter (e.g Comma if you want to create a .csv file) as the Column Delimiter and click Submit.
Using the Query Tool
For more information on how activation queries work, see activation query.
To write an activation query, go to the Console Tab of Query Tool. Select Activation as the Query Type and write your activation query. You can choose to add a maximum of 5 columns of string values to your output data that can be used as attributes in the Treasure Data Platform. This will help you, for example, in associating useful information such as the segment name to the visitor IDs. To do this, select the Add a column of string values to your output data option. Add a column by writing the Column Name and the Column Value that you want to have available to you in the CDP. Select the preferred delimiter (e.g. Comma if you want to create a .csv file) as the Column Delimiter.
Enter the Campaign ID and click on Create Campaign.
Step 2: Connect your export connector to your Activation Bunker
Go to the Activation tab under Activate and select the campaign you created for the data activation. At the bottom of the page, you will see a box containing three menu tabs - Details, Export Configuration and Export History. Switch to Export Configuration and use the slider to enable the connector you want to use and fill out the form with the required details.
See the following links for more information about how to push data to:
Click on the Save button, then click on the Activate button to push the data to the selected final destination.
Option two: You give permission to a partner to build a segment and use your activation Bunker
If you want to allow another partner to reference your dataset and to use your activation Bunker for activating data, you need to create an Activation permission. When you create permissions, you define how another party can use your dataset. Click here to learn how InfoSum Permissions work.
Step 1. Create an Activation permission
First of all, you need to create an Activation permission for your activation bunker that allows your partner to reference your dataset. Click here to learn how to create an Activation permission.
Step 2. Share the activation dataset name with the partner
The partner will need to know the name of the activation dataset as they will need to include this information if they build a segment to activate or if they run an activation query.
Step 3. Share the cloud storage credentials with the partner
Please follow your organization's process to share information with a third party.
Step 4. The partner creates the activation segment and pushes it to the chosen S3 bucket or SFTP server.
As described in option one above.
