How to activate data to mediarithmics
You can activate your first-party data from InfoSum to mediarithmics.
To activate your first-party data from InfoSum to mediarithmics, we recommend using an Amazon S3 bucket to onboard external data into the platform. mediarithmics can provide an S3 bucket or you can also use your own S3 bucket if you prefer. You can then send the file with your activation segment to that location and make it available on the mediarithmics platform. Let’s see how.
Set up your cloud location in mediarithmics
Create an S3 bucket
If you want to use the S3 bucket made available by mediarithmics, contact your mediarithmics Account Manager. They will set up the S3 bucket and give you the necessary details and access. Please ensure you have the bucket name, path and prefix to set up the connector inside InfoSum Platform.
If you already have done this or you prefer to use your own S3 bucket and you have your S3 bucket details, you’ll have to grant the mediarithmics team access to that bucket.
Data activation in InfoSum
Create an activation Bunker
To export your audience segment out of InfoSum you’ll need to have an activation Bunker.
If you don’t have one yet, you’ll need to set this up first. See creating a dataset for details.
When you are setting up your activation Bunker, please make sure that you select, as an output column, one of the IDs that mediarithmics can currently ingest:
- Cookie (First party cookies or mediarithmics cookies)
- MAID (IDFA, GAID)
- User ID (CRM ID, loyalty card ID, PPID, etc)
- Email*
*mediarithmics accepts both raw emails or hashed email in any format (we recommend using SHA256 for activation purposes). You can only export unhashed emails from the InfoSum activation Bunker so if you choose to activate data by selecting emails as output keys you need to inform mediarithmics to choose the hash format.
There are two options for activation:
- You build the audience segment and use your activation Bunker, or
- You give permission to a partner to build a segment and use your activation Bunker.
Option one: you build the audience segment and use your activation Bunker
Step 1. Create your activation segment
Using Segment Builder
For more information on how to create a segment, see using Segment Builder.
Once the segment is created, click New Activation on the top right corner. Choose the dataset you want to use for activation and the output column you want to export.
Then click on Submit to create the activation.
Using the Query Tool
For more information on how activation queries work, see activation query.
To write an activation query, go to the Query Tool and select Activation as your query type. Write the activation query, define the Campaign ID and click on Create Campaign.
Step 2. Connect your mediarithmics S3 bucket to your activation Bunker
Go to the Activation tab under Activate and select the campaign you created for the data activation. At the bottom of the page, you will see a box containing three menu tabs - Details, Push Connectors and Pushes. Switch to Push Connectors and use the slider to enable S3.
Fill out the form with details of the S3 you received from your mediarithmics account manager or of your own S3 bucket. More information on how to fill out the form can be found here.
Please be attentive to Bucket Name, Destination Path, Prefix and Destination Filename:
- Bucket Name: Don’t include any leading S3 identifier, e.g. "bucket-name" not "s3://bucket-name"
- Destination Path: as given
- Prefix: as given
- Destination Filename must be in the following format:
INFOSUM-{{DATAMART_ID}}-{{CAMPAIGN_NAME}}-{{SEGMENT_NAME}}-DATE.csv
Where:
- DATAMART_ID: your account number on mediarithmics side (contact your account manager in case of doubts).
- CAMPAIGN_NAME: the name of the campaign, you can use the Campaign ID from InfoSum. Its aim is to distinguish the data export inside the Bunker.
- SEGMENT_NAME: the name of the segment as you’d like it to be identified inside mediarithmics.
- DATE: the date on which you are sending the file to the S3 bucket. It must be in the following format: YYYYMMDD-HHMM
Your Destination Filename should look similar to this:
INFOSUM-0123456-SUMMERCAMPAIGN-HIGHSPENDERS-20210614-1256.csv
Option two: you give permission to a partner to build a segment and use your activation Bunker
If you want to allow another partner to reference your dataset and to use your activation Bunker for activating data, you need to create an Activation permission. When you create permissions, you define how another party can use your dataset. You can see here how InfoSum Permissions work.
Step 1. Create an activation permission
First of all, you need to create an activation permission for your activation Bunker that allows your partner to reference your dataset. You can see how to create activation permissions here.
Step 2. Share the activation dataset name with the partner
The partner will need to know the name of the activation dataset. This will be required if they build a segment to activate or if they run an activation query.
Step 3. Share the S3 credentials with the partner
Please follow your organization's process to share information with a third party.
Step 4. The partner creates the activation segment and pushes it to the S3 location
As described in option one above.
Verify that mediarithmics is ingesting data correctly
You can verify if mediarithmics is ingesting data correctly by looking for the segment under the Audience > Segment menu. Here, you can see if the segment is available and if users are in the segment or not.
