Private Path Collaborations
Private Path is an additional InfoSum tool enabled via Infosum’s standard platform, leveraging the same technology and privacy controls. It allows two or more companies the flexibility and speed to send and receive data without ever combining, exposing, or compromising their customer’s personally identifiable information: all customer keys are replaced with private, non-reversible, point-in-time synthetic IDs for the secure exchange of enriched intelligence.
Important note |
This functionality isn't available as standard to all users. Please contact your InfoSum representative to learn more about how to gain access to Private Path. |

Use cases
The two main use cases Private Path supports are Measurement and Enrichment.
Measurement
The ability for two or more parties, for example Brands and Publishers, to connect sales, conversion, and impression data to a 3rd party measurement provider’s ID space without sharing PII or identifying keys between any party.

Enrichment
The ability for one party to enrich their own IDs with attributes from another party without sharing or exposing sensitive data, strategy, or PII. Brands, agencies, publishers, measurement providers, and other companies will continue to look to leverage third-party data assets within their own CRMs, CDPs, or data warehouses. While enrichment of existing customer/consumer data is the most common purpose, companies may also look to receive information, in an anonymized fashion, on the larger population. This data is used for first-party segmentation, analytics, and/or to define potential prospecting audiences.

Who is involved
- Managed service provider: An InfoSum company performing queries to generate private path IDs and exporting the data to the pre-determined Destination.
- Collaborating parties: Companies wishing to participate in the collaboration who will each receive private path IDs from their own dataset that can be used for analysis.
(optional) In some cases, only one party will receive the extract of both Activation Bunkers (Extract Recipient). The other Private Path collaborator does not receive any data, but permissions their dataset to InfoSum, allowing export to the Extract Recipient’s destination.
Step by Step overview
InfoSum operated the Private Path execution as a managed service, but the data onboarding and permissioning process remains self-serve.
1. Confirm managed service instructions
All parties involved in the Private Path use case must send an email to InfoSum instructing us to act on your behalf to execute the Private Path export.
Your InfoSum representative will provide you with a template.
2. Data onboarding: Private Path specific Bunker setup
You need to have the same data onboarded into your Insight and Activation Bunker. If you are using the standard platform for other collaborations, you will need to create separate Bunkers for Private Path. Please consult with your InfoSum representative about your data needs so we can advise you on the format and best practices. Please ensure:
- All keys have to be in the same format (pre-hashed or raw) across all Bunkers and all partners
- All fields to be selected as output columns during normalization before publishing to your Activation Bunker
See this article on how to create and manage Bunkers and datasets in the platform.
3. Create your Destination
Both parties need to have a server Destination where the activation will be delivered.
(Optional: If InfoSum is delivering the final stitched file with the synthetic IDs, we will provide the Destination so you can skip this step)
- Select the Activate tab and hit Destinations
- Create a new Destination that will be used in the Private Path executions
- Ensure the File Name field is marked as editable (more fields might need to be editable depending on the specifics of your use case, your InfoSum representative will advise you if you need a specific setup)
4. Share your Company ID with InfoSum to create a Private Path Collaboration
The InfoSum team will create a Collaboration for your Private Path.
A Collaboration is a project management tool that allows you to identify the parties and shared resources that are involved in a specific project and allows the collaborators to:
- See the other members (members cannot be edited)
- Set simpler yet granular permissions for specific datasets and destinations
- Prepare all resources needed for the use case in one view
- Gain more visibility with query and activity logs
You will need to share your company ID with your InfoSum managed service team. You can find this on your Collaborations page as shown below:
5. Add your Bunkers and Destination to the Collaboration
When you’re added to the Collaboration you will be able to add your Insight, Activation Bunker and Destination.
(Optional: If InfoSum is delivering the final stitched file with the synthetic IDs, we will provide the Destination)
Insight Bunker permissions:
On the first screen, keep the toggle on to share all attributes.
On the second screen select ‘Allow Querying the Whole Dataset’ and tick the ‘Allow use in activations’ check box.
Activation Bunker permissions
Each party needs to be able to export their own Private Path extract so the permissions should include ‘Allow Querying the whole dataset’ and the export settings depend on who is receiving the export:
- Each member
- Only one member
- InfoSum
If each member is receiving their synthetic file, you should restrict export to your own Destinations as shown below
If it’s pre-agreed that one party will conduct the analysis and requires both extracts to be delivered to the same destination then the export settings should allow export to your partner’s Destination only as shown below.
If InfoSum is the party who will conduct the analysis, please allow export to InfoSum’s Destination only.
Adding Destinations
Adding destinations to a collaboration is easy. Simply select the right destination and click ‘Add Destination’.
This is an example of what a complete Collaboration could look like:
6. InfoSum runs the Private Path
The InfoSum team runs the Private Path according to your instructions and delivers the extracts to your chosen Destination. From there it can be sent to the final platform for enrichment or measurement.
You will have access to an events log to see what has happened in the collaboration.
