UK address mapper 2.0
When uploading UK addresses into a Bunker, InfoSum’s normalization engine creates a unique key per address that can be used for collaborating with partner’s Bunkers at query time. This key is called the UDPRN.
UDPRN is a standardized identifier introduced by the Post Office in 2004 that identifies a single address. Therefore, it can be used as a household identifier and for collaborating in the InfoSum platform.
Note: UK address mapping is only available in UK Cloud Vaults (EU West)

Supported formats
When bringing UK addresses into the InfoSum platform, there are some specific methods of handling the data you should note during the normalization stage.
-
Always provide the address in a raw format
During normalization, InfoSum will require the raw address to create the UDPRN. -
All address fields should be separate columns
The way the InfoSum normalization engine produces a UDPRN is by taking as an input the house number, street name and postcode. The combination of these three fields is then looked up against a database provided by the Post Office and returns the UDPRN. Therefore, you must ensure each of these three fields (as a minimum) are contained in their data as separate columns.
Using the address mapper
Prior to normalizing your data you must have imported a file to your Cloud Vault. You can do this via the Import flow. Once you complete your import you’ll have to create a recordset before being able to normalize your data.
For general information about the normalization step please read our Data Normalization article. You will need to be in the main Normalization screen to use the address mapper
- Please ensure that you are on a UK Cloud Vault or the UK address normalizer won’t be available
- To use Address Mapper, click on the black + icon on the right hand side, and select Address Mapper Enrichment.
- This will open a modal where you can match column in your dataset to address mapper fields.
-
Please ensure that you have selected the Address mapper Region on the dropdown as United Kingdom. Then you will see the following fields in green:
- House Number
- Street Name
- Postcode
- Click on your columns (blue) to select a column if the address mapper hasn’t automatically selected the right column
- Once you’re happy with the mapping, click on Add Enriched Columns
- You will see the address has been mapped in green and UDPRN has been created as keys (the key toggle is automatically on)
Creating custom keys
If your collaboration requirements include other compound keys such as a name and address combination, you can easily create them using the modification options.
- Click on the black + buttom and select add modified column and select ‘Concatenation’ - this allows you to concatenate string values into one single string
- A new modal will open, please select Add address mapped column as your input column. This will allow you to select address mapper columns to the modifier.
- Then select the columns that you want to join, and give your new column a name. Click on add modified column.
- Your new column will be added to the normalization table. It will be at the top in purple.
Normalizing for Activation Bunkers
If you’re planning to use any address column as an activation key, please toggle on the ‘export column’ toggle.
Completing Normalization
Please ensure the rest of the keys and attributes in your dataset are also normalized to the correct configuration. You can find more information on normalizer steps here. Then click CONTINUE TO DETAILS.
Provide a name for the config you’ve just created and create a name for the output normalized file. Click “CREATE NEW CONFIG AND NORMALISE” to move on.
Next steps
After normalizing the rest of your dataset you can prepare and publish to a new or existing Bunker.
When preparing the Bunker, UDPRN will be available as a key
When you come to prepare the normalized data that includes UK addresses, “UDPRN” will be available in the key selector
