Snapchat pre-requisites
Configuring and exporting to a Snapchat destination:
Before configuring anything within the InfoSum platform, you must have:
- Snapchat Ads Account: You need access to a Snapchat Ads account. You can create one via the Snapchat Ads Manager.
You will need to have 1000 match user minimum when exporting data to Snapchat for the audience to populate. To meet this requirement, it’s recommended to upload a list of 8,000-10,000 users.
Activation Keys
Snapchat supports the following keys - please ensure that you set one of the below keys as your activation key when setting up your activation query:
- MAID: Mobile Advertising IDs (IDFA/GAID)
- Email: Email addresses
- Phone Numbers: Phone numbers
Step 1: Authorize InfoSum to send data to Snapchat (OAuth2.0)
Before you create a Snapchat Destination, you will need to authorize the connection between the two platforms.
On the destinations main screen, click on the Authorisations button on the top right side of the screen.
On the next screen, click on the Snapchat entry and click Authorise. You only need to Authorise your Snapchat account once, and we currently only support one Snapchat account per InfoSum company account
This will take you to your Snapchat account, App Authorisation page as below. The standard setup enables InfoSum to add and create audiences for your account. Click on the ‘Continue’ button to authorize.
- You will be returned to the Authorisations page and the Snapchat Destination will be shown as authorized.
Step 2: Configure the Snapchat Ads Destination in the Platform
You can now continue with the destination set up by going to activations>destinations and clicking ‘create new destination’. Select Snapchat from the drop down menu and give your destination a name.
The form contains the following fields:
-
Ad Account ID: The ID of your Snapchat Ads account. This can be found in your Snapchat Ads Manager.
- Audience Segment Name: Provide a name for the audience segment you wish to create. If the audience with the name you specify does not exist, it will be created. If you specify an existing audience, the audience data will be updated.
- Audience Segment Description (Optional): A brief description of the audience, if necessary.
- Retention in Days (Optional): Specify the retention period for the audience members. The default retention is set to lifetime (9999 days).
- Action (Optional): Specify action to add or remove users from an Audience. We currently only support those two audience options.
Complete all the mandatory fields and click submit. As the destination is reusable all fields can be specified as editable/non editable at point of export to allow you to customize all specific exports.
Please note that any fields that you make editable at push time will be editable by companies that you share the destination with.
Once completed, this destination can be used in the export configuration.
Step 3: Activating data to Snapchat
You can activate results to a file using either Segment Builder or the Query Tool. Once you’ve created the activation query, go to the Activation tab under Activate, where you will see some information about the campaign and its status. The total rows gives you an insight into the size of the dataset, before pushing it to the destination.
At the bottom of the page, you will see a box providing more details on the campaign, such as the query used and the name of the output column. There are three menu tabs within this box - Details, Export Configuration and Export History. Once you've pushed the results, the details and status will be viewable under the Export History tab.
For now, switch to Export Configuration, choose the destination options and choose your Snapchat or click on Create New to set up your reusable destination.
Click Export to Destination to initiate the activation. The status will change to a check mark when it’s completed the export.
You will be able to find your new audience in your Snapchat account> Audiences > Audience library. This might take up to 72 hours to process.
Troubleshooting
Possible Reasons for 0 Users in Audiences After Upload.
After successfully uploading the number of users in your audiences, you might see a count of 0 due to the following reasons:
Audience Validation: The audience size is still being validated. For Dynamic Ads, Snapchat may still be calculating the audience size for your catalog and product sets. It can take up to 72 hours for the Audience to upload.
Small Audience Size: The audience size is too small for Dynamic Ads, potentially not meeting the minimum requirements. You need to have 1000 match user minimum in order for your Number of Users to be change from zero to 1000 and more.
To meet this requirement, recommended to upload a list of 8,000-10,000 users.
Ad Delivery Issues: There are no delivering ads within the ad set, which could mean ads are paused or have been rejected.
