Troubleshooting Destinations: common user errors
If after following the instructions on setting up a Destination something doesn’t work you should get an error message that explains what the issue is.
This article outlines some of the most common causes of errors when activating data out of the platform.
Errors when filling in the Destination credentials
You do not have the right permissions
You do not have the appropriate user rights
Incorrect keys were sent to the Destination
One of the Bunkers in the query has expired
The Destination platform is still processing your data
The audience size is smaller in the Destination than in the Activation query
Errors when filling in the Destination credentials
The team that uses the InfoSum platform and the technical or data team that can provide the credentials needed to set up a Destination can be different, especially a connector protocol that uses tech that most marketers are unfamiliar with.
We’ve seen examples of miscommunication between these teams or errors in copying and pasting the very technical credentials that can cause an activation to fail. We recommend confirming that the credentials are 1) the right ones and that the server is ready to accept files, and 2) correctly inputted in the platform - a common mistake we see is that when copying credentials into the Destination there is a trailing space before or after the credentials.
You do not have the right permissions
You might not have the right permissions to perform the activation query or export to that destination.
- You don’t have permission to the Activation Bunker
- A permission has been revoked
- You don’t have permission to use all Bunkers included within an Activation Query
You do not have the appropriate user rights
Your account administrator/company owner has not given you user rights, including the right to activate data outside the platform.
You can confirm your rights with your account admin or reach out to your InfoSum representative to confirm your rights.
Incorrect keys were sent to the Destination
Some platform Destinations like Meta or TTD accept a limited number of keys that need to be exported in the right format. If you export a different key the data might not be processed or shown as unavailable at the Destination.
One of the Bunkers in the query has expired
For an Activation Query to be processed correctly, all Bunkers included in the query must be active and have data in them. When re-running queries to refresh campaigns, it can happen that a Bunker has expired or become unavailable.
Please check that all Bunkers are available.
The Destination platform is still processing your data
Not all Destination platforms can process the data instantly when they receive your activation from the InfoSum data clean room. Some platforms might take up to 48h to process your data before it is shown as available for use, so please be patient with that. Your contact at the destination platform can provide you with more information on timelines on their end.
The audience size is smaller in the Destination than in the Activation query
Some Destination platforms (like Pinterest or Meta) match your customer list to their known user base. The resulting audience in the Destination may therefore be smaller than you were expecting owing to ignored identifiers for unknown users.
Additonally, some platforms have minimum audience volume requirements. If the platform is not able to match a sufficient volume of users, the audience might not populate.
