Exporting results to a Pinterest destination
You can use a Pinterest destination to export a new custom audience/update an existing audience to a Pinterest business account for owned datasets
Once a destination is created, you need only provide run-time variables to push an activation file to a remote resource. Saved destinations are available to all users in your company and can be reused indefinitely.
Creating a Pinterest destination
First, select the Destinations tab under Collaborate and then click New Destination.
The form below appears and the following fields need to be completed:
- Destination Type: Select Pinterest.
- You will then see a link appear under the field as below requesting that you authorize the Pinterest connection via OAuth, click on this link
- You will be taken to the Authorisations page where you will need to click on the Authorise button. You only need to Authorise your Pinterest account once, and we currently only support one Pinterest account per InfoSum company account
- This will take you to your Pinterest account, App Authorisation page as below. The standard setup enables InfoSum to add and create audiences for your account. Click on the ‘Give Access’ button to authorize.
- You will be returned to the Authorisations page and the Pinterest Destination will be shown as authenticated.
- You can now continue with the destination set up by going to activations>destinations and clicking ‘create new destination’
- Select your Pinterest destination type, choose a name for the segment, optional description, and click next.
The above form contains the following fields:
- Pinterest business account ID: The ID of the Pinterest business account (see below for where you can find this information).
- Audience name: The name of the new audience to be created in the targeted Pinterest Ad Account. More info: https://developers.pinterest.com/docs/api/v5/#operation/audiences/create
- Audience description (Optional): Provide additional context for the audience being pushed.
Note: switch the toggles to allow or not allow editing of a field at push time to customize activations. For example, leaving the Audience name editable can be useful to reuse the destination for multiple separate campaigns.
Click ‘submit’ to complete the destination set up and you will now see the Pinterest Destination in your list of destinations.
Exporting results to a Pinterest destination
You can activate results to a file using either Segment Builder or the Query Tool. Go to the Activation tab under Activate, where you will see some information about the campaign and its status. The total rows give you an insight into the size of the file before pushing it to the destination.
At the bottom of the page, you will see a box providing more details on the campaign, such as the query used and the name of the output column. There are three menu tabs within this box - Details, Export Configuration and Export History.
Once you've exported the results, the details and status will be viewable under the Export History tab.
Switch to Export Configuration and select Destination. Contact your Customer Support Representative contact if the Destination option does not appear.
Select your newly created Pinterest destination from the list or click Create New to create a new destination. For information on how to create destinations, please see above.
Depending on the selected destination type, you may need to enter run-time details in the export configuration fields, depending on what settings were set as ‘editable’ during the creation.
Click on ‘Push to Destination’ to export your audience.
Note:
- Export will show as successful if the connection works and the destination platform accepts the export.
- There may be a delay in processing the audience by the destination platform depending on a number of factors.
- If you don’t see the audience appear within 48 hours, please contact your platform partner representative.
