Configuring and exporting to a PubMatic destination
Intro
You can use destinations to:
- Export segments of user IDs to a pre-created PubMatic segment.
Once a destination is created, you need only provide run time variables to push an activation file to a remote resource. Saved destinations are available to all users in your company and can be reused indefinitely.
Creating a PubMatic destination
First, select the Destinations tab under Collaborate and then click New Destination.
The form below appears when you select PubMatic as your destination type and the following fields need to be completed:
- Destination Type: Select PubMatic.
- Name: Identifies the destination
- Description: A free-text explanation of the destination
Once completed, press Next.
Adding PubMatic connection details
The above form contains the following field:
PubMatic connection details
- Data Provider ID (DPID): InfoSum’s ID as a data partner on the PubMatic platform (please reach out to your PubMatic rep if you are unsure of how to set InfoSum up as a data partner).
- Audiences to add users to: Here you can type in the name of an Audience to add users to.
- Optional Settings Country Code: A dropdown list of country codes that can be selected based on the country the users are from.
Click Save. The saved destination is stored in the Platform’s Destinations page and can be selected in the Activations tab when pushing an activation file to a remote resource. The destination can be reused and is available to all users in your company.
For details of how to export a segment to a Pubmatic destination, see exporting results to a destination and PubMatic export configuration fields.
Exporting results to a destination
After creating an activation, you can export activation query results to a preconfigured destination. This allows you to export data to a location without re-entering your destination configuration and security credentials.
You can activate results to a file using either Segment Builder or the Query Tool. Go to the Activation tab under Activate, where you will see some information about the campaign and its status. The total rows give you an insight into the size of the file before pushing it to the destination.
At the bottom of the page, you will see a box providing more details on the campaign, such as the query used and the name of the output column. There are three menu tabs within this box - Details, Export Configuration and Export History.
Once you've exported the results, the details and status will be viewable under the Export History tab.
Switch to Export Configuration and select Destination. Contact your Customer Support Representative contact if the Destination option does not appear.
Select a destination from the list or click Create New to create a new destination. For tutorials on how to create destinations, please see How to create a destination.
Depending on the selected destination type, you may need to enter run-time details in the export configuration fields, as described in the tables below.
PubMatic export configuration fields
Field name |
Description |
User ID |
Select an activation file output column to map to the target User ID. |
ID Type |
InfoSum currently supports sending the following IDs to PubMatic:
|
Country |
Select the country of the user. If left blank, this field defaults to the United States of America. |
Segment ID |
Enter the Segment ID of the pre-created PubMatic segment you want to export to. Within PubMatic, this is called the 'Source Audience ID' and can be found as seen in the screenshot below:
|
TTL (not shown in UI) |
Time To Live (TTL) for IDs sent to PubMatic is set to 30 days. If you would like to refresh the TTL for a segment, a new export needs to be completed. Once the TTL expires, IDs are automatically deleted from segments by PubMatic. |
Notes:
- You must enter details for all PubMatic fields.
- If exporting encrypted ID’s eg. ID5, LiveRamp, Zeotap etc, these need to be in plain text format.
- User’s data in the PubMatic platform will be deleted once the Destination has been deleted.
When you have completed the required fields, click Export to Destination. Selecting this button begins the file stream.
Switch to the Export History tab to see the status and check for any errors. Once the status has a green tick, the file has been successfully pushed to the destination.
Notes:
- PubMatic pushes can fail or partially fail - an error message will give details if there are any issues.
- If you are experiencing slower than expected import/export speeds and you're using a VPN or firewall that can block data upload or download, please refer to Add IP addresses to an Allowlist.
