A query on InfoSum Platform - just like a query in a conventional database - is a way of filtering, combining and analysing data.
Queries can refer to datasets you have imported, and to datasets owned by other users who have given you permission to reference them.
Most queries will reference more than one dataset. InfoSum Platform will use keys to link records referring to the same individual, allowing the query to seamlessly reference data across all the datasets involved.
Queries on InfoSum Platform are written in a language called IQL. You can run them either using the Query Tool in Dataset Manager, or programmatically through the Platform API.
There are two types of queries:
- insight queries, which generate anonymised statistical reports
- identity queries, which can return lists of individuals.
For information on how to write queries in IQL, see the full language documentation here.
