How to import a dataset
This quick start covers how to import a dataset to InfoSum Platform. Each dataset is onboarded to a private virtual server called a Bunker, where it's converted to our Global Schema and then the original data is deleted. Nobody else, not even InfoSum, can see your data.
Before starting, it's a good idea to check your column names are descriptive, as this will simplify the later normalisation process.
Create and name the dataset
Once you're logged into Dataset Manager, select New Dataset and assign a Private ID and Public Name.
The Private ID will be used when referencing the dataset in queries, so must contain only alphanumeric characters with no spaces. The Public Name is a brief title which will be visible to others if you grant a permission.
After you select Create, you will be taken to the Datasets tab, which is your central point to create, manage and delete your datasets.
Import your dataset to a Bunker
Next, use the dropdown menu next to the Action button to access the Bunker. You will then be taken to the Bunker interface, which is separate from the Dataset Manager.
Once you’ve accessed the Bunker, you can import a dataset from a range of sources, including CSV files and MySQL. Connection details and credentials will be needed at this point, where applicable.
Confirm the import wizard settings
The final step is to check the dataset has been correctly mapped against our Global Schema. This mapping facilitates the later mathematical representations of the data and the direct comparisons between multiple datasets.
